Hurricane Tomas...

Well it's over... We had RAIN... My weather station read 32"... I can hardly believe that we actually had that much, but it was really dumping down yesterday, through the night, and also today... And we had WIND... I wish that I'd have a reading for the wind, but it was strong... the wind turbine was furling a lot, and actually blew a breaker once... and the wind took down the newly erected shop frame... We found out about the hurricane just as they were about ready to put the roof on, so they decided not to put the roof on and weld some braces on instead... The wind totally wrecked the thing... I think the only thing that might be salvageable is the trusses... I want to post pictures once I get them downloaded from my camera... It was leaning into the wind turbine's guy wires pretty much and I was concerned that it might bring the turbine down yet, so my faithful neighbor, Maxo ran down to Allegre with a note letting the guys know what was going on, and they soon came to the rescue... It took a good part of the afternoon figuring out to get the building the rest of the way to the ground safely without anyone getting hurt, or jeopardizing the wind turbine any further... They managed, and I was very relieved to have it on the ground with the turbine still standing... I'm not sure what got out of line with the wind turbine, but we had to majorly adjust the guy wires on the opposite side of where it was leaning before it could operate like normal again... Thank God for safety through all the adventures of that day... We're all doing fine even though we're living in a sea of mud... I talked to friends in T-Goave and Port and it sounds like they had a lot of rain without the wind that we had... I feel so much for the many, many people that are living in tents.... We were without internet connection most of the day due to the heavy rain, but it's been good since the rain is mostly over... I'll try to post pictures soon...
