Sunrise breakfast

The day before my sister's family left, we had a sunrise breakfast on the roof...
Sipping hot chocolate out of tiny cups. :-)

When we needed to dig a ditch to lay wires, my boys were proud to do "men's work"!

A school celebration...

Every year Lor has a school celebration for her students. She's so creative with her ideas.
It's the highlight of the school year for the children!

Rachel's birthday

Rachel is 9! Her one request for her special birthday supper was to have yogurt parfaits. :-) That wasn't a hard request when you consider that we had both homemade yogurt and mango jelly on hand! She was one happy little girl as we celebrated on the porch.

Finally - Here's a picture of my maid, Yeye and her fiance! They're planning a January wedding. Of course Yeye is like family to us, so we're all excited about her upcoming wedding and enjoying learning to know Fenice as well.

A family picture

The thing that amazes me about family pictures is you realize how fast your children are growing! Do the words "fun" and "scary" belong in the same sentence? :-) God is good!

Haiti Banquet

Please see the "NHM Haiti Banquet" page to sign up for the upcoming event on November 22, 2014. We look forward to seeing you there!

Once upon a time...

There were birthdays...
(I'm sorry I haven't been posting more frequently!)
Jonathan's 7th...
Weston's 4th... I find his yellow "suspenders" so amusing. It makes me smile every time I see these pictures. His sisters rigged them for him out of a "Happy Birthday" ribbon just because it was his birthday! :-)

Helpers - big and little

Janelle loves to wash dishes...
Trimming grass is a very good job for Jared - and he enjoys it, too!

I'm convinced that the main ingredient for fun is imagination!
The older boys fixed up this contraption on the wagon, and had fun giving their younger siblings rides.
My little princess...

Let's go fishing!

It's the simple things in life that are fun, right? The children had a blast with this gummi-worm game. ;-)

Still here!

We are still here, doing well - just busy! I hope to resume more regular posting again soon. Please pardon the unannounced break - my children are more important than pictures. :-)

Always something to do...

There's so much to do with Legos...

Pulleys and weights are right down Jared's alley. :-)

Trying on their new pj's that a sewing circle in the States made for them.
School work for Jonathan. :-) Yesterday he woke up all excited because they were starting a new reader! He loves to read.

A Special Valentine

I wish I had a picture of the children holding this valentine when I walked into the room, but of course I wasn't expecting it. :-) The little notes on the back were so sweet - I can't help but feel very loved... :-)

Season of Fruit

We love watching our own pineapples growing... you can still see the flower under the pineapple on the right. These plants give some of the sweetest pineapples, we ever had.
Yes, we buy lots of grapefruit these days!
Grapefruit season is winding down, so we're trying to can enough jelly to last until next year. We have around 20 qt now, and have a few more batches to do before we call it quits.
Here's a glimpse of our fresh produce bins... In the forefront is custard apples, then traveling from the bottom: potatoes :-); more potatoes, ginger root, and pine kindling (for starting our charcoal fires); coconuts (we use them in rice&beans nearly every day); the top bin a fruit called sour sop. Sour sop makes good milk shakes and is NOT sour like its name would imply! :-)

My girlies...

Doesn't this picture just make you want to squish them in a big hug? :-)

"Let's pretend..."

"... we're going to market... m'ap vini, wi!"
"... We're Indians... how's my ti-pi?"
"I'm world's cutest pig..." Oops, no pretending here... This is our little porker that keeps us entertained with his races through the garden.

Sewing team memories...

Lainer with Sophia... My children just loved playing with the babies.
Sewing headquarters. Setting up on the porch worked out great!

The ladies... From left to right: Hannah, Jean, Joyce, Ivy & Carol
Babysitting babies in the strollers was no chore at all! :-)

Joyce surprised the children with a puzzle of our family picture. It didn't take them long to figure out what the picture was! ;-)

The ladies brought food and decorations to make a very special evening for us.

* Thanks to Jean and Hannah for sharing your pictures! :-)*
